Profit pulling websites for the small business
How to register a domain name
Are you a business owner contemplating getting a website for your business? For your website to be found on the Internet you need what is know as a domain name or a URL (Uniform Resource Locator)
Example of a URL www.pixels.net.nz
To find a particular website you type in the URL in your Internet browser window or use Google to search for the website. If you have a name for your business it is best to stick to that name
Then you have to find a website that registers domain names. The prices vary from place to place. It is good to shop around.
Domain names have different extensions. Some of the popular ones: -
.com, .org, .net
.biz, .eu, .us
.uk, .au, .nz, .in
The most popular one is still the .com. Unless you want to be marketing only to the local market I suggest you stick to the .com extensions. For New Zealand market try to get a .co.nz. This creates trust amongst your customers that the business is based in New Zealand.
A good domain name helps you to promote your site easily. e.g. www.candy.com This domain name is self explanatory isn't it?
